September 20, 2021  1:00 - 2:30 pm, ZOOM virtual meeting
(Please log in prior to 1:00 to be sure your connection is working.)

Superintendent Hutchings will be the guest speaker for this virtual meeting.  This is our opportunity to ask Dr Hutchings how the year of virtual learning impacted the children, as well as the staff.  Also, even with the mask mandate, is there a possibility that schools might be closed again?  Is there any possibility that ARTA members volunteering in the schools might come down with a “break through” case of COVID?  Tune in to hear all about plans for this year!

Our first in-person ARTA meeting in over a year will feature Jim McConville, who will talk to you about aspects of Elder Law which have had some slight changes, particularly with Power of Attorney and Medical Directives. He will also talk about guardianships and custody in light of the Britney Spears case, from a lawyer’s point of view. He will be available to answer any questions you may have. Here is your chance to get advice from a lawyer for free! Remember, masks are required, and we will use social distancing.

November 10, 2021   1:00 - 2:30 pm, ZOOM virtual meeting with Arlington Retired Teachers

Our next meeting will be our annual joint meeting with the Arlington County Retired Teachers Association. The program is titled Frauds and Scams and what YOU need to Know. As a member of the network, Mr. Bailey assists victims of fraud and identity theft. He also is a member of Virginia’s Senior Medicare Patrol doing educational presentations dealing with detection, prevention, and reporting fraud and abuse in the Medicare Program. He will discuss:
1. Con Artists Playbook, strategy and tactics of con artists
2. The latest Frauds- what to look out for
3. Prevention Strategies- how to avoid becoming a victim
4. Resources- where to go if you or someone you love has become a victim.
ZOOM details have been emailed directly to ARTA members in the November newsletter.
